Day of Thanks Celebrates Champlain Donors

On February 14th, Champlain celebrated its annual Day of Thanks hosted by the Champlain College Advancement team. This is a day of community and appreciation to recognize the donors who make the Champlain College experience possible. The event was held on Valentine’s Day this year, the perfect time to show gratitude and love for our Champlain community.

During the event, a spirited stream of students, staff, and faculty stopped by Fireside Lounge to create donor “thank you” cards, write on the gratitude wall, and make gratitude journals. Some other sweet options included decorating Valentine’s Day cookies, drinking hot cocoa, and enjoying a candy bar with chocolates generously donated by Lake Champlain Chocolates.

Students wrote on the gratitude wall to express what they are thankful for at Champlain.

Between all the activities, students could enter two raffles. One was the classic “guess how many candy hearts are in the jar” game, with the number of hearts representing the 1,385 donors from fiscal year 2023, to win a Champlain swag bag. The second raffle was a scavenger hunt where students visited spots around campus made possible or greatly impacted by donor support, like the Alumni Auditorium and The Leahy Center. Each location they found gained them another entry for a chance to win the ultimate Valentine’s Day prize bundle.

Fireside Lounge was filled with students enjoying a moment of gratitude and reflection of their Champlain experience.

“This event was a true display of community with Marketing, Student Engagement, Career Collaborative, Office of Sustainability, and the President’s Office all supporting our efforts,” said Sarah Andriano, Vice President of Advancement. “Above all, it was great to see our students really make the connection between donor support and their Champlain experience. I would call that a BIG success.”

The day was all about appreciation and recognition of Champlain donors. Check out our Gratitude Gallery to see more pictures from the event and stay tuned on Instagram @champlainedu to hear what students said they were grateful for!
