VIRTUAL TOUR OF CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTING NEW SAFETY MEASURES
Associate Director of Student Engagement Jared Cadrette gives a virtual tour to staff and faculty to show what campus safety measures are in place this fall.
VOTER REGISTRATION MESSAGE
Did you know? In the 2016 Presidential election, 77% of our students registered to vote, but only 53% of them voted, according to our National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSVLE) report. The ChampVotes coalition of faculty, staff and students ask that you incorporate something related to the upcoming election into your classes. Tuesday, September 22 serves as National Voter Registration Day, and may offer a great teachable moment for you. You might do something as simple as sharing a one-slide visual, announcing our voter registration and engagement tool, TurboVote, sharing the more detailed twelve-slide version (see 4 minutes video version here) or getting really deep and diving into the NSLVE data (see below).
In collaboration with the Center for Service and Sustainability, the Library will be promoting voter registration and answering questions at a booth in Rozendaal Courtyard from 9:30 AM–2:30 PM on September 22. We will be giving out Champlain themed “vote” buttons, and if you register to vote you will get a tasty treat! Stop by the library to check out our voting themed book display this week!
However you choose to share this important civic engagement information, we appreciate your efforts. And of course, if you are eligible, you will register and vote as well.
