MOVING CLASSES OUTDOORS

Please take advantage of our beautiful campus this fall. As you consider the possibility of moving your student meetings, classes, and activities outside, please take note of this information:

  • There are two outdoor spaces available to reserve for classes. The Finney Quad and the Hauke Courtyard steps will be added to the EMS and can be reserved with the Event Center at least 24 hours in advance eventcenter@champlain.edu. Each morning we will post the schedule on a sandwich board sign at each space.
  • There are multiple other outdoor spaces on campus that you can use on a first-come basis.
  • There are tents set up in multiple locations across campus designed for safe outdoor student hang out spaces. (These are not classroom spaces.)

Let’s hope for good weather. And remember, if you are taking your classes outside, have a plan for your virtual students.

COMPASS FALL 2020 COVID-19 INFORMATION

There are new web pages available for students on the Compass website to help navigate through the Fall on-campus experience.  Information about student expectations for attendance, how to access dining services and more is available here.  We will continue to populate these pages with student information about campus operations and the academic experience.

ATTENDING VIRTUAL CLASSES ON-CAMPUS

We realize that students might want campus spaces to attend virtual classes or study between classes.  The following spaces have been reserved for student study spaces or attending virtual classes on-campus.  These spaces are advertised on the Compass COVID-19 page and there will be sandwich boards up on campus starting tomorrow.  These classrooms will have specific signage indicating their intended use and room capacity information.

  • GBTC/Ireland 206 Classroom

WORK-STUDY AND PART-TIME JOB FAIR UPDATE

The Work-Study and Part-time Job Fair won’t be taking place this year.  However, students can search and apply for all currently available on-campus positions by logging into Handshake, our online career management system.  If students would like general assistance with their on-campus or off-campus internship or job search, they may contact Angela Hyldburg (ahyldburg@champlain.edu) to be directed to the appropriate Career Collaborative Team member.

INFORMATION BOOTH/LEMONADE STAND

Recognizing that this fall will be unlike any other fall opening, we plan an information booth located in the Hauke Courtyard staffed throughout the first week of classes and on an intermittent basis afterward to assist students looking for directions, a forgotten mask or answers to general questions. If you would like to sign-up to volunteer for the information booth click here. You do not need to know all the answers. You will have a “who to call” list of people that you can access on Google Chat to get answers. This booth will also have extra masks for any students who have forgotten their masks that day, faculty should refer students to these locations if a student arrives in class without a mask. Don’t forget to bring your fully charged laptop!

STUDENT/FACULTY/STAFF ID ACCESS

We appreciate your patience as we seek to get students, faculty and staff the appropriate access to campus.  We anticipate by the end of today we will have the majority of people the appropriate access.  After Wednesday, if you still have challenges with your ID access please contact your Operations Manager.  Students should email compass@champlain.edu, text or call 802-992-1474 to troubleshoot their access or to get a new ID card.
