COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Available on Campus

Dear Students,

We have a number of opportunities for you to get your latest COVID-19 booster vaccination on campus over the next several weeks.

As a reminder, all students are required to remain up to date on COVID-19 vaccination. Up to date is defined by the CDC as having completed the primary vaccine series as well as the most recent booster recommended. The new “bivalent” booster is recommended for all individuals 18 and over if it has been at least 2 months since your last COVID-19 vaccine. The new vaccines are “bivalent” because they protect against both the original COVID-19 virus and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5.

For 194 St. Paul Street residents: The Vermont Department of Health will be offering a free walk-in COVID-19 booster clinic at 194 St. Paul Street on Saturday, October 15 from 11:00AM – 3:00PM. Champlain College students who do not live at 194 but are guests of 194 residents are also eligible for this clinic.

For main campus and commuter students:

  • The Student Health Center has a limited number of booster vaccination appointments available throughout October. Please sign up here for an appointment. We will add more appointment slots later this month.
  • The Vermont Department of Health will be offering a free, on-site COVID-19 booster vaccine on campus on Wednesday, November 9 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM in the gym. This will be a walk-in clinic, able to vaccinate up to 800 students.

Off-campus vaccination opportunities:

  • The Vermont Department of Health offers free, walk-in vaccination clinics everyday.  A complete list can be found here. Please include South Burlington in your search terms as the closest and largest location is at the University Mall, just under 2 miles from campus, located in South Burlington.
  • Many local pharmacies are offering free, scheduled, and walk-in booster vaccination. Please see each pharmacy’s website for details.

After you receive your booster, please upload your updated vaccination card on the Student Health Portal, following the directions found here

If you have recently had a COVID-19 infection, you may consider delaying your booster by 3 months; however, you may also choose to vaccinate sooner. More specific information regarding when to vaccinate after a COVID infection can be found here.

Questions? Please reach out to the Student Health Center at healthservices@champlain.edu or (802) 860-2711.

Thank you for continuing to do your part to maintain a healthy campus.
