APRIL 9, 2020: Message to Graduating Seniors

Champlain will host a virtual commencement on May 9, 2020 and an in-person ceremony in the next academic year.

APRIL 6, 2020: Message to Student Employees & Supervisors

Champlain will pay all student employees, both those working remotely and those who cannot, from the beginning of the period of remote instruction through the end of the semester based on their scheduled hours established prior to spring break.

MARCH 16, 2020: Remote Work Scale-Up and Campus Access

Our campus will transition to remote working to the greatest possible extent, effective at the earliest opportunity.

MARCH 13, 2020: Refunds for Residence Halls & Meal Plans

Champlain is actively planning to offer pro-rated credits for campus student housing and meal plans, given recent changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MARCH 13, 2020: Remote Work for Staff & Faculty Update

Staff and faculty, full-time and part-time/adjunct, are asked to assess their decisions about working in person at the Burlington campus on an ongoing basis against specific criteria.

MARCH 11, 2020: Campus Announcement

Champlain College will extend spring break for an additional week until March 20, 2020. Beginning March 23, all traditional undergraduate classes at the Burlington campus will be conducted online.

MARCH 5, 2020: Travel Update

Travel to countries with a “Warning Level 3” advisory is strongly discouraged. Students, staff, or faculty who have traveled to a country with a Level 3 advisory or have been in close contact with a person who is suspected to be infected with or tested positive for COVID-19, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.

Students moving in to off-campus residences are expected to follow specific guidelines.

May 21, 2020: Residence Hall Pick-Up Process

Our move-out plan is based on directions and guidelines from the Governor’s office and is staged in three parts.

APRIL 27, 2020: Message to Residential Students

Vermont remains under the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order issued by the Governor that is in place through May 15, 2020. The College will communicate the move-out process when the State of Vermont updates the status of this order. Students may complete a hardship form to request consideration for summer housing.

APRIL 7, 2020: Message to Students Residing on Campus

Students currently residing on campus may find it increasingly difficult to return home in the coming weeks and are encouraged to do as soon as possible.

Champlain College is asking all students to depart New Zealand, and return home as soon as possible.

MARCH 21, 2020: Message to Students in New Zealand

On March 19, 2020, The US State Department Issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel. In light of the new advisory, Champlain College recommends that students and families carefully consider the new State Department warning.

APRIL 28: Message to Students Eligible for Housing & Meal Plan Credits

Students who departed campus housing between March 8–March 30 will receive a 44% credit based on their individual Spring 2020 housing and meal plan charges.

MARCH 16: Message to International Students & Exchange Visitors

ISS recommends that all international students and exchange visitors (non-degree, Short-Term scholar, and Professor categories) remain in the U.S. for the duration of both the extended Spring Break (March 16-22) and the remote instruction period (March 23 until at least April 6). 

MARCH 13: Message to Student Employees

The College is in the process of working with your student employment supervisors to pursue all of the options possible for students to resume employment during the extended spring break and period of remote instruction.

MARCH 13: Message to Supervisors of Student Employees

If students reside in the local area, and if the supervisor’s office remains open, there will be the option to work on campus.  Due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, the College will allow students to work remotely when available.
