Employee COVID-19 Summer Regulations & Information

Dear Champlain Employees,

This is an email to update our community on our COVID-19 Summer Regulations for residential students and employees who are currently working on the Burlington campus. Summer Regulations begin May 17.

Weekly Testing Program

Weekly testing will still be required for any unvaccinated residential students, faculty, and staff.

Beginning May 17, vaccinated students, faculty, and staff will no longer be part of the weekly testing program provided that:

Testing is not required for faculty and staff that need to come to campus on an irregular basis and will not be interacting with others (for example, to pick up an item from a private office or record a class in a private space).

Testing Center

Next week, the testing center will be open Monday, May 10–Wednesday, May 12 during normal hours and closed May 13 and 14.

Beginning May 17, the testing center will be located in the lower level of Whiting Hall.

Operating hours will be:

  • Mondays 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Wednesdays 11:00 AM– 6:00 PM

The testing center will be closed Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday starting May 18.

Daily Health Screenings

Based on the summer operations of campus, the Health Department and state of Vermont have agreed that it is appropriate for us to deactivate the Daily Health Survey requirement from May 17 until the start of the fall semester. We will continue to closely monitor the positivity rate of COVID-19 in the state and local community, and will collaborate with the Health Department to determine if this requirement will need to be reactivated for the fall semester.

Updated Health Pledge

The College has updated the Employee Health Pledge for the summer session to reflect updated state guidance as well as Champlain’s COVID-19 health requirements as stated above. The revised Employee Health Pledge must be signed by all employees working on-campus this summer; please use this form to sign the Pledge. For reference, the Pledge is also posted on our COVID-19 website.

The “Return to Campus” committee is developing plans for a full return to on-campus teaching and working for next fall. The return-to-campus plan will be shared later this summer.
