Faculty & Academic Staff Briefing #10

Dear Faculty and Academic Staff:

This daily briefing includes:

  • Canvas Notifications: A Reminder for Your Students
  • CLT Updates: New Canvas resources available
  • Message from Angela Batista to all Trad Students
  • Image Of The Day: Aramis Brown

CANVAS NOTIFICATIONS: A REMINDER FOR YOUR STUDENTS

Canvas notifications are a great way for your students to be notified of updates in your Canvas course.  Notifications alert students when you post an announcement in your class or when a new discussion post has been added.  This page in our Remote Learning Guide explains how to adjust those settings.

CLT UPDATES: NEW CANVAS RESOURCES AVAILABLE

The CLT has developed a template for easily adding organizational structures, discussions, and other components to your Canvas course. This template is especially helpful for faculty who want to incorporate asynchronous activities. It includes built-in guidance for users new to Canvas on using several tools that can greatly enhance your students’ experiences. Learn more, including how to add the template to your course, here

The CLT has also reorganized its Covid-19 Teaching Continuity landing page to highlight new resources that will be helpful to you as we move into week two of remote instruction.

MESSAGE FROM ANGELA BATISTA TO ALL TRAD STUDENTS

A video message from Angela Batista, VP of Student Affairs and Institutional Diversity and Inclusion went out to students on Thursday.  Angela provided words of support, suggestions for staying connected, and ways to take care.  Check it out here.

ONGOING COMMUNICATIONS

Ongoing communication and resources for Faculty and Staff will be posted on The View. It’s a good idea to check the site daily as new communications and FAQs are posted regularly. Finally, all Faculty Daily Briefing emails are stored here and also hosted on The View.
