Return From Spring Break COVID Protocols

Dear Champlain Students,

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful break and that you are rejuvenated for the last few weeks of the semester.

The Champlain community continues to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a sense of personal responsibility throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We thank you, and know that these sentiments and behaviors will continue. Here are a few updates on Burlington campus COVID protocols as you return to campus.

TESTING

We encourage all students to complete a COVID test as early as possible upon returning to campus from spring break. We strongly recommend testing for students who have traveled. In particular, students who have traveled internationally to locations with high rates of COVID transmission.

The testing center located in Whiting Hall is available for asymptomatic testing Monday through Friday 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. The Student Health Center offers rapid symptomatic testing Monday through Friday by appointment and has home COVID tests kits available for students to pick up and have on hand for symptomatic testing. The Student Health Center can be reached at (802) 860-2711 or healthservices@champlain.edu.

MASKING

As we return from spring break, we will continue the College’s masking requirement, which is for all students, employees, and visitors to wear masks when in shared indoor spaces. The CDC and the State of Vermont has recently shifted its guidance on mask use, and many communities are no longer requiring the use of masks indoors. We will take the next few weeks to assess the impact of spring break and assess the potential to shift to being “mask optional” as we move into April.

As a reminder, if you are not feeling well and/or are experiencing symptoms, including mild symptoms, you should stay home and get tested. If you have been identified as a close contact, please contact the Student Health Center. If you test positive for COVID—on campus, in the Burlington area, or at home—please self-isolate and contact the Student Health Center.

Once again, we thank you for your commitment to protect your health and the health of our community.

Sincerely,

Danelle Berube
Vice President, Student Affairs & Emergency Management Coordinator
