Email to Students and Parents from Interim President Laurie Quinn regarding residence hall and meal plan refunds

Dear Students and Parents:

These uncertain times pose challenges for all of us, including financial questions and concerns. As Champlain College continues to place its first priority on our students’ and community’s health and well-being, we are mindful of other concerns and want to keep you informed.

This message is to let you know that we at Champlain are actively planning to offer pro-rated credits for campus student housing and meal plans, given recent changes related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be determining the amount(s) of prorated credit(s) during the week of April 6, by which date we expect to issue updated guidance about the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. Credit or refund amount(s) will depend on the duration of remote instruction.

Right now, we do not have conclusive knowledge of how long our remote instruction period and delivery of related services will need to be. In addition to supporting remote instruction, we are continuing to offer many services to students virtually, such as health and counseling support and tutoring.

We are committed to working tirelessly for our students’ education and for the health and safety of our community. The College will be sending updates regularly and all COVID-19 information can be found on our Update Site. I am grateful for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.

Yours sincerely,
Laurie Quinn
