Champlain College Working Remotely Week of 1/4/22

Greetings and Happy New Year!  We apologize for emailing you over this break.

Given the recent spike in Covid cases we have decided to ask all non-essential staff to work remotely the week of January 4–January 7, 2022.

Essential staff that will be required to be on campus are defined as those that are unable to work remotely due to the nature of their job, i.e. Campus Public Safety, Physical Plant, Admissions Operations, and the mailroom to name a few.  This coming week offices with essential employees that need to be staffed in person will be notified by your Vice President.

If you are unable to work remotely and would like to work on campus we ask that you connect with your Vice President to discuss your plan. As a reminder, indoor masking continues to be required in all campus buildings.

Testing is recommended for employees that traveled, attended large gatherings, or functions with little indoor masking. You can find information about free local testing options here.  As always, it is important that you get tested and work with your primary care provider if you are experiencing symptoms.  We continue to recommend you stay home if you are not feeling well. If you test positive or are identified off campus as a close contact, please let the College know so Champlain’s medical team can conduct contact tracing, assess implications to the campus community, and provide you with information.

Throughout this pandemic Champlain has continued to use data in order to help inform our decisions to keep our community safe.  We are committed to this approach and will respond to emerging case data as it develops.  This approach has served the College well, and we are confident it will continue to do so.  The decision to work remotely this week gives us additional time to assess the transmission rates in the community and plan accordingly.

We will provide an update on or before January 10th with additional information regarding plans and protocols for the spring semester.

Thank you for all you do for Champlain, especially as we continue to navigate forward through this pandemic.

Sincerely,

Leslie Averill
