Spring 2021–Return to Campus Details for Commuter Students

Dear Commuter Student:

We are looking forward to the start of the spring semester and to seeing you on campus. Please review the details in this email to ensure you understand the campus quarantine period and your responsibilities to attend surveillance testing.

Champlain’s campus will be under quarantine January 23–February 7 leading up to the start of in-person classes on Monday, February 8. To ensure your health safety and those of students quarantining on campus, we ask that you remain off-campus during this two week period.

Traveling to Vermont from Out of State
If you are returning to an off-campus residence from out of state, you must adhere to Vermont State guidelines regarding cross-state travel. Specifically, you should plan to arrive in Vermont no later than January 29, and quarantine for at least seven days. After seven days of quarantine, you may come to campus to be tested. If you receive a negative result prior to February 8, you may return to campus for classes on and after February 8. All students must receive a negative test prior to attending their first in-person class or visiting campus.

Spring 2021 Community Health Pledge & Daily Health Screening
The Champlain Community Health Pledge has been updated for the spring semester. The Health Pledge describes the College’s expectations of you—and our expectations of one another—as we work together to establish and maintain the health of our campus community and our Burlington home this spring. All students are required to sign the revised Community Health Pledge by completing this Google Form.

You must also submit the Daily Health Screening each day you visit campus throughout the spring semester.

Weekly Surveillance Testing
If you would like to access campus and/or in-person classes beginning February 8, you must participate in testing the week of February 1. Surveillance testing will take place in Perry Hall, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Access to Campus Buildings
All campus buildings will be restricted to key card access. Prepare to carry your ID with you at all times. If you lost your ID, please contact Compass in advance of your arrival date to have a new one printed before you arrive.

Access to the Campus Store
Please place an order for contactless pick-up for any materials you need for the start of classes through the Campus Store website. We recommend that you plan to pick up your materials before campus quarantine begins on January 23.

Commuter Meal Plans
The Dining Hall will be open to commuter students with meal plans beginning February 8. Please do not access the dining hall prior to receiving a negative test.

Shuttles, Dining Hall, Mail Center Operations
Please see the Campus Operations FAQ on The View for hours of operation for the shuttle, dining hall and mail center.

Parking
Spring semester parking permits are free to commuter students; a permit must be displayed to pay-per-use. Request your permit here

We look forward to seeing you soon and please remember that if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone with a known case of COVID-19, please email us. Do not come to campus if you are sick or have been exposed.

If you have questions about Spring 2021, please visit the FAQ section of our COVID-19 website.

Sincerely,
