For the first time, the Champlain College Library is participating in Douglass Day! Although Frederick Douglass was born into slavery and never knew his true birthday, he chose to celebrate it on Valentine’s Day. To honor his legacy and other icons of black history, join us on Friday, February 14 for a birthday party and transcribe-a-thon in Fireside Lounge from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. This year’s transcribe-a-thon will focus on the papers of Anna Julia Cooper, a visionary black feminist and the fourth black woman to ever earn a PhD. Help strengthen digital archives by transcribing a wide assortment of documents relating to Ms. Cooper and her life. Please join us in this important work, help us spread the word to the student body, and we encourage faculty members to consider bringing their class.
