The Hate U Give: Film Discussion

Champlain College and Saint Michael’s College are partnering to participate in this year’s Vermont Reads Community Read program. The 2020 book selection is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, which tells the story of teen Starr Carter in the aftermath of witnessing a police shooting of her childhood friend. In addition to providing access to the book and film, we have a series of upcoming events and a variety of ways to participate throughout the semester.

Our first event is a discussion of the film adaptation on September 28 from 6:30-8:00 PM. Dr. Margaret Bass, Special Assistant to the President of Saint Michael’s College for Diversity & Inclusion, will lead a joint discussion with the Champlain College and Saint Michael’s College communities. Attendees will watch the film The Hate U Give prior to the event and come together to have a co-college discussion in breakout rooms. Please register to attend at the button below, before the end of the day September 24.
