Social Impact and Public Policy: Racism as a Public Health Emergency

Each panelist, a mixture of campus and community experts, will introduce and briefly discuss their own connection to the issue (“When a city declares racism is a public health emergency, how do you approach that statement? What context do you bring to that statement?”), followed by a discussion of issues such as the history of police practices in America, alternate forms of community intervention, healthcare system, and COVID policy issues that disproportionately affect BIPOC communities, and future policy steps that might/should be taken by Burlington and around the country. Finally, we will open it up to a general Q&A with the audience.
