A frequent collaborator of Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach brings to life the story of Frances (Greta Gerwig, the director of Lady Bird), a woman in her late twenties attempting to find her way in life and maintain her relationships in a time of change. Her misadventures are dramatized in glorious black and white cinematography.
After the main event, we'll be screening an animated "short", Is the Invaders' Safe Open? In it, master thief Lupin the Third and his colorful gang of cohorts attempt to break a safe in a heavily-protected mansion. The catch? The safe's security system is themed around the arcade game Space Invaders. Lupin is a character who will recur throughout the year in our screenings, so here's your chance to acquaint yourself...
The Champlain Film Society offers the Champlain community a shared space to participate in rich movie-watching experiences for film students and casual viewers alike. With two different branches, the Official (good films) and Evil (bad or cult films) divisions to our name, Film Society provides the broadest spectrum of film experiences possible. In screening a range from popular classics to film school favorites to so-bad-it's-good cult b-movies, we're more than just a film class or a watch party...we're a society!
