COURSE COVERAGE PRACTICE FOR FALL 2020

Academic Deans in collaboration with the Faculty Welfare Committee and People Center have created a plan for course coverage and compensation for full time faculty in case of a COVID-19 related illness. This plan will be communicated by your Dean.

Adjunct faculty will receive payment for course coverage as outlined in current pay practices and collective bargaining agreement.  If adjunct faculty have questions, please contact your union leadership.

TEACHING FLEX-HYBRID: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER RAMP-UP?

By now, most faculty are well into redesigning their fall courses–thinking about what their assignments and projects will look like, how to implement their ideas in Canvas, and even what will happen on the first day. As we move into the last two weeks before the semester starts, the Center for Learning & Teaching will offer continuing guidance on how to make the courses you’ve planned living realities through a series of videos and webinars. You can start with this video (link goes to the CLT’s YouTube channel), the first of a series. On Tuesday 8/18 at 2pm, the CLT will offer a webinar called “The Flex-Hybrid First Day” with Rebecca Mills, Betsy Allen-Pennebaker, and Leslie Van Wagner. On Monday 8/24 at 3pm, Josh Blumberg will offer a session on implementing flex-hybrid instruction from campus using new classroom technology. They look forward to continuing to work with you during this transition!

CLT ANNOUNCEMENT:  CANVAS SUPPORT

While the CLT Design Team is working steadily with faculty on their Design Check-Ins and Course Reviews, we have a small team of people that can assist you with any general Canvas questions or specific questions about using conferencing technology. If you would like to schedule a time to meet with a member of the team, please use this appointment scheduling tool. As always, you can contact 24/7 Canvas support by clicking on the “Help” link from any page in Canvas.

CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY READY FOR PRACTICE: JOYCE 202

We have prepped Joyce 202 with updated classroom technology for faculty to practice.  This room does not have a document camera yet, but it now has a webcam, mic and 2nd monitor. We are working on getting faculty card access to this space and a sign-up tool to reserve time to visit this classroom, you will have this by Tuesday, August 18th.  If you are unable to visit this classroom in person, another opportunity for you to see this in-action during the faculty webinar on Monday, August 24th 3:00-4:30pm. Check your google calendar for Google Meet link.
