Fall Update #7: Housing Next Steps for Returning Students

Dear Returning Champlain College Students:

Thank you for your responses to the Housing Intention Form last week.

Last week we promised to provide you with housing availability details and next steps today. As we expected, the requests for on-campus housing exceed our ability to supply housing for everyone.

  • After reducing all of our residence halls to singles and doubles and providing housing for incoming first-year and transfer students, we have about 150 available beds on Main Campus.
  • Based on contracts signed in the spring, 312 returning students will be housed at 194 St Paul Street.
  • We received approximately 350 requests for housing from returning students on Main Campus, and an additional 80 students indicated they were potentially interested in housing on Main Campus.
  • We will begin assigning the remaining 150 beds over the next week and a half according to the priorities defined in Fall Update #4.

If you indicated you were “possibly interested in on-campus housing,” you must complete the the Final Fall Housing Request form in THD by Wednesday, July 29, if you would like to be considered for on-campus housing. If you do not complete the form in THD, we will assume that you are no longer interested in on-campus housing for Fall 2020.

When you completed the Housing Intention Form, you indicated that you are possibly seeking on-campus housing. Please complete the Final Fall Housing Request form in THD by Wednesday, July 29, if you would like to be considered for on-campus housing. If you do not complete the form in THD, we will assume that you are no longer interested in on-campus housing for Fall 2020.

On August 3, you will receive an email letting you know your status for housing on campus. Again, we do not have the capacity to house all students who desire housing. Those who are not approved for housing will remain on our lists. Beds will continue to be offered as they become available over the next few weeks.

On August 5, those students who have been approved for housing will log in to THD at a specific time and select a room from those available. Details will be provided by August 4 for this group of students.

Once a housing assignment is made, students will have until August 24 or before they move in (whichever is earlier) to cancel their housing without a cancellation penalty. Complete details about the College housing cancellation policy can be found here. Please be sure to communicate with reslife@champlain.edu if your decision to live in campus housing changes.

Thank you for your patience through this process. If you have any questions, please reach out to reslife@champlain.edu.

Sincerely,

Jerome Holland, Jr.
Director of Housing and Residential Life
