Champlain College Esports’ Extra Life Event Fundraises for UVM Children’s Hospital

The Champlain College Esports Club (CCE) raised a record-breaking $5,117 during their annual 24-hour gaming event in November 2021.

Each year, students, alumni, and local community members come together for a full 24 hours of gaming, competition, snacks, prizes, and good company; all for a good cause. This year, their fundraising amount continued to climb higher and higher than ever before.

Extra Life is an organization that has dedicated itself to helping save local kids through the power of play. Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals treat thousands of children each year regardless of their financial situations. It began as a grassroots movement and has grown to be a fundraising behemoth in the gaming world, with teams and events happening throughout the year and all over the country.

CCE has run its event annually for the past seven years to help raise money for our local CMN hospital, the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital. In 2021, the fundraising amount continued to climb higher and higher than ever before. By the end of the 24 hours, CCE had raised a record-breaking $5,357 for the UVM Children’s Hospital, pushing the total amount raised by the club to over $10,000!
